Sciatica is a very generalized diagnosis. All that it means is that we have pain in the sciatic nerve. In order to fix sciatica, we must first figure out what exactly is causing the nerve pain. Here at Cherry Creek Spine and Sport Clinic we perform a thorough exam evaluating disc, bone, muscle and nerve. If you have been to your general practitioner and they have ordered an MRI we will sit down and evaluate your results. If your sciatica is not due to disc involvment then it is most likely due to piriformis syndrome.
Piriformis syndrome is due to a contractor of the piriformis muscle that in return puts pressure on the sciatic nerve. This is a very under diagnosed and mis-treated condition. At the clinic we use Active Release Technique to go in and release the contracted tissue and also adjust any misaligned bones that are contributing to the condition. From there we take you through an extensive rehab protocol to make sure that the condition does not come back.
