Cherry Creek Spine and Sport Massage Therapists:

Carrie Bohlmann:

My name is Carrie Bohlmann. I am a graduate of the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy, a Colorado licensed massage therapist and I love massage! My interest in alternative healing began about 5 years ago when I was injured while working in a restaurant. After visiting a doctor and being told to “just take ibuprofen” I realized thatcarries_pic wasn’t the healing I’d been looking for. I began practicing yoga and getting massages to try to ease the tension of being a server from my body.  I also started seeing a chiropractor who used muscle testing and other alternative methods to help heal my body as well as some emotional issues. I was so impressed with the results!  I realized that there was a different way to heal the body than I had ever experienced before and that part of that healing came from looking at the body as a whole, mind, body, spirit.

I had been interested in massage for many years and knew and believed in the benefits received from it and I realized that I wanted to share that healing touch with others. My conviction has grown since attending the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy, where I graduated as Salutatorian of the class.  While there, I suffered a healing crisis in my arm and luckily had the experience of many different instructors using various modalities of massage and energy work to treat and heal my arm.

I truly believe in massage, as well as many other forms of bodywork, as a preventative care necessity of life.  Many illnesses, injuries and stresses can be avoided through receiving massages regularly and healing can occur to problems that you are already experiencing. The body does have the capacity to heal itself!

Benefits of Massage:

The benefits and effects of therapeutic massage have been experienced for centuries in the East. We have caught on a bit more slowly here in the Western hemisphere, but today even the most conservative doctors sometimes recommend or prescribe massage. Studies have shown that massage can:
  • Stretches and broaden muscle fibers Increase flexibility Increase muscle function
  • Relax muscle tension Increase postural awareness
  • Decrease heart rate and blood pressure Decrease edema (swelling)
  • Help remove toxins Break up scar tissue Loosen adhesions ("knots")
  • Help alleviate menstrual problems/menopausal symptoms Increase expansion of lungs for full breathing Aid in digestion
  • Ease pregnancy problems such as nausea, high blood pressure, heartburn, tiredness and back pain.

The results you will obtain depend upon your exact situation. We will discuss treatment goals and options with you during your first visit.

New to Massage? What to expect during your visit:

  • Appointments are required in advance. Please phone or email us to make an appointment.
  • For your safety and health a brief health history form is required (this form will remain strictly confidential). Please use the link below to download the form. Complete it and bring it to your first appointment to ensure your entire appointment is spent on your massage, rather than paperwork.
  • You will be modestly covered by a sheet or towel at all times. You may undress to your comfort level or remain clothed. The massage can be modified to work through the sheets or clothing.
  • For your privacy, before and after the massage, the therapist will excuse himself so that you may get on/off the table in private.

ART has been developed, refined, and patented by P. Michael Leahy, DC, CCSP. Dr. Leahy noticed that his patients' symptoms seemed to be related to changes in their soft tissue that could be felt by hand. By observing how muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves responded to different types of work, Dr. Leahy was able to consistently resolve over 90% of his patients' problems. He now teaches and certifies health care providers all over the world to use ART. See the ART page for more details.
